ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Technical – Job Specific

  • Combines knowledge of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to create functional products; involved in all phases of product design from concept to implementation.
  • Collects and analyzes data; produces detailed reports for management and customers.
  • Provides ongoing reviews with all involved parties – management, customer, and production.
  • Identifies the goals, requirements, and limitations of the product(s).
  • Conducts extensive research and creates design proposals for projects.
  • Creates improvements to existing designs and development standards as well as develops new standards.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes and specifications.
  • Understands cost, maintenance, safety regulations, legal stipulations, environment, quality and other production guidelines.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company and industry standards, customer contract requirements, safety requirements and other related specifications.
  • Effectively evaluates the final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Translates designs and design changes into solid models and drawings. Coordinates with Manufacturing to ensure design intent is properly and adequately communicated.
  • Conducts modifications following prototype test results.
  • Identifies, formulates, and produces effective solutions to emerging issues.
  • Coordinates with outside technical support organizations.
  • Keeps up to date with trends and the needs to consumers when designing/updating products.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of the current and developing design trends and influences through ongoing research and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in engineering or related field; and/or
  • Experience with CREO or other similar 3D modeling software
  • Knowledge of drill rigs and/or off highway construction equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and overall complex package design
