AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Air Quality Scientist to be based in our Austin, TX office. This position will support our EHS/Air team within our Environment business line.

This position is expected to begin in January 2023.

Job Overview:

The Air Quality Scientist I will support our EHS team both in the field and office, working with air quality calculations, data collection and analysis, reporting, and regulations/compliance.

  • The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate and work as part of a team of scientists that provide air quality monitoring services
  • Calibrate, maintain, test, and operate air monitoring instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintain electronic and hardcopy records in an organized manner
  • Collect, organize, and prepare data for reporting
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments on a project specific basis
  • Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities
  • Pre-employment drug screen required
  • Random drug screening performed during employment
  • Pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record background check required
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, or related.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous internship experience in a related field
  • Master's degree in applicable field
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Environmental sampling experience


Additional Information:

  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Travel is required for this position.
  • Candidates may be asked to submit a pre-hire Motor Vehicle Record screening.
