Physical Fitness Specialist

Job Duties
: Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) provides people with disabilities comprehensive, individualized services to realize optimal personal independence through employment. WWRC is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Physical Fitness Specialist. The incumbent in this position will provide fitness and conditioning programming to clients who may have various cognitive or physical impairments and who are working towards maximized work readiness and employment potential in various training contexts. The incumbent in this position will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and adherence to practice standards, ethical codes, organizational values, and policies and procedures; demonstrate competency in providing and documenting fitness training; demonstrate competency in areas of exercise physiology and/or fitness program planning and implementation; document client treatment in email and/or written form while adhering to documentation timelines and standards; and communicate frequently with a multi-disciplinary team made up of various paraprofessionals.
This is a wage (part-time) position and will work on average 24 hours a week. Hours may vary depending on agency needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge/Experience:
Clinical knowledge gained during the professional education curriculum.
Knowledge of and experience with principles and practice of exercise/fitness techniques.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting.
Ability to administer/support fitness programming for clients in a vocational training context who may have cognitive/physical special needs.
Ability to conduct fitness training 1:1 or in groups.
Effective verbal and written communication skills implementation.
Additional Considerations:
Training in Health Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or fitness related field.
Specialty certification recognized by the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) such as Autism Exercise Specialist or Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer.
Demonstrated experience working with individuals with disabilities.
