Clackamas County Children, Family and Community Connections, a division of Health, Housing and Human Services is looking for a Family Law Mediator 2 to join the Resolution Services team. 

The Resolution Services program provides conflict resolution services to people and organizations experiencing conflict and those seeking resources so they can resolve their difference peacefully, develop skills for the resolution of future conflicts and build safe, healthy relationships and communities.

This position provides advanced level mediation and conciliation services to couples and families experiencing domestic relations problems and disputes.

The Family Law Mediator 2 works within Resolution Services and mediates family and domestic relations issues, provides marital counseling, and conducts continuing education trainings. This position may also mentor interns.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

A minimum of two (2) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position.  Must meet educational requirements as required by Chief Justice Rule No. 05-028 Section 2.2.1. An applicant must possess at least one of the following:

(a) A master's or doctoral degree in counseling, psychiatry, psychology, social work,

marriage and family therapy, or mental health from an accredited college or

university.

(b) A law degree from an accredited law school with course work and/or Continuing Legal

Education credits in family law.

(c) A master’s or doctoral degree in a subject relating to children and family dynamics,

education, communication, or conflict resolution from an accredited college or

university, with coursework in human behavior, plus at least one year full-time

equivalent post-degree experience in providing social work, mental health, or conflict

resolution services to families.

(d) A bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science related to family relationships, child

development, or conflict resolution, with coursework in a behavioral science, and at

least seven years full-time equivalent post-bachelor’s experience in providing social

work, mental health, or conflict resolution services to families.

Completion of a minimum of 30 hours Basic Mediation training Completion of a minimum of 40 hours Domestic Relation Mediation Training/Custody & Parenting Experience interviewing, assessing, and documenting agreements with clients Experience mediating with families Must successfully pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check. 

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

English/Spanish bilingual skills  Possession of licensure granted by the State of Oregon to practice as an attorney with knowledge of domestic relations law in Oregon. Completion of a minimum of 40 hours Domestic Relation Mediation Training/Financial

TYPICAL TASKS

Provides direct services, including mediation, facilitation, relationship coaching, and other dispute resolution services to parties involving a variety of matters; conducts intake services; documents case information; prepares letters, memos and written agreements for the disputing parties. Coordinates other services and trainings and supervises staff and volunteers who provide these services; conducts child custody evaluations; administers assessment tools, makes recommendations to the court; prepares child custody study reports; provides clinical therapy to children and families; and provides detailed financial analysis to one or both parties involved in divorce proceedings. Performs case management duties related to clients; refers callers to other community services; collaborates with collaborative agencies regarding joint client services. Provides experiential education and coaching services to a variety of interested parties, including schools and organizations; develops, reviews and updates skill development curricula as necessary. Leads the work of program staff along with temporary, contracted, and volunteer or intern mediators and trainers; prioritizes and assigns cases to staff or volunteer mediators where appropriate; coordinates staff work plans and schedules to accomplish program goals; monitors and leads the work of staff performing mediation case activity; monitors and leads the work of staff performing training services. Assists in coordinating community outreach and public relations activities; develops promotional program; promotes mediation and conflict resolution services by attending meetings and presenting information to community groups, schools, public and private agencies; participates in local mediation related events. Assists with grant writing and budgeting; performs grant administration and financial reporting; monitors expenses and revenue reports; makes recommendations related to grant management. Develops and maintains record keeping consistent with office procedures and systems; creates and maintains complete and accurate files, manages mailing lists; prepares reports. Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and recommends program changes. Participates in continuing education trainings; prepares and conducts continuing education trainings and psycho-educational workshops for peers and community members.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the County’s alternate workweek program, working 30 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. 

This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the and based on the Department’s business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.
