Recreation Therapist

- Working knowledge and experience with therapeutic recreation process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Must have the visual acuity to identify, instruct, and evaluate patient‘s skills, affect, needs, safety, and progress.
- Excellent verbal and written skills are required to communicate and interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, hospital staff, and the public.
- Skill sets to work with patients, families, physicians, and staff. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Knowledge of treatment programs, leisure education, social skill development, arts, and sports is required.
- Must be able to provide age specific care and intervention for child, adult and geriatric population(s).
- Provides written documentation in the patient chart of patient‘s level of participation and patient‘s perceptions of activity and progress toward meeting treatment goals.
- Competency in milieu management for the ASD/IDD population/treatment of this population. (Competency training will the completed by Springwoods BCBA or their representative).

Qualifications
Certified or certification-eligible by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
