Duties

This position functions as secretary and principal office assistant to the Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Base Miami Beach providing secretarial and office management support, and directing all program, administrative and support operations for the Command.

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include

Develops mechanisms for and manages ongoing clerical and administrative support for organizations. Produces travel orders and makes transportation and lodging arrangements and reservations for supervisor and immediate office staff when needed; determines office supply needs and secures same. Produces electronic files for CO/XO, and sometimes immediate office staff, including forms, memoranda, correspondence and similar narrative material, from draft typed materials, disk files, electronic network, and/or handwritten copy. Reviews incoming mail for distribution to immediate office members, determining items that can be referred to others based on subject matter, supervisor’s priorities and policy, and/or established practices.
