Hardware Engineer IV - PCB Designer

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated PCB Designer for a Onsite (Sunnyvale, CA) or Remote opportunity.

Position Title: Hardware Engineer IV - PCB Designer

Location: Onsite (Sunnyvale, CA) or Remote

Anticipated Start Date: [Aug 12th, 2024]

Expected Duration: 6+ months

Job Type: Contract - [FULL TIME (40 Hours a week)]

Pay Range: $90/hr-$95/hr

Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).

Duties:
  • Support the layout of complex detailed rigid, rigid-flex, and flexible printed circuits using CAD and CAE tools.
  • Create part footprint in conjunction with PCB Librarian.
  • Take responsibility for PCB outline and layer setup; component placement and signal routing.
  • Interface with board fabrication vendor to select and use correct impedance rules, DFM and DFA rulesets.
  • Work with hardware engineers, PCB designers and fabricators for development and sustainability of actual products.
  • Implement signal and power system layout on the PCB and meet electrical design targets.
  • Review design with EE and ME team and vendors to ensure that design meet DFM and DFA requirements, and release design on time.
  • Keep up with, and develop comprehensive knowledge of, industry standards and technologies.
  • Proactive in implementing new PCB technologies and processes.
  • Ability to support multiple layout projects and work in fast-paced environment. Communicate effectively with EE and ME team members to meet project requirements and ok2fab dates.

Full time, Onsite (Sunnyvale, CA) or Remote

Skills:
  • Experience with Cadence and Allegro tools.
  • Experience with mechanical design constraints in PCB and flex boards.
  • Experienced with state of the art PCB design tools and methodology.
  • Experience with board layout of QFN, DIP, BGA, wire bonding technology.
  • Proficient with high-speed board designs or layouts; familiar with high density ball-grid array's (BGA), and blind and buried via's. Familiarity with signal integrity layout requirements such as impedance control and signal isolation.
  • Ability to generate and enter electrical and physical design constraints, keep out and other mechanical constraints in board layout.
  • Support DFM and DFA review with hardware engineers. Address DRCs and DFM feedback from vendors. Generate gerber, fab notes, assembly drawing and other documents for ok2fab.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Education:
  • BS in Electronics or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of Computer-aided Design (CAD) or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design experience.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:

1 Cadence Allegro

2 IDX import

3 Constraint manager

Good to have skills:

1 Signal integrity requirements. Transmission line.

2 Power integrity requirements

3 DFM

Years of experience required
  • More than 4 years of PCB and flex layout experience. Experience with consumer electronics design and high density PCB design is a plus.
