The Hospital is looking for a Mental Health Tech/CNA (7A - 3:30P). In this position you will be responsible for providing the direct care to adolescent patients with psychiatric disorders, as well as substance abuse, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the patients. MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient‘s safety on the unit.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts patient monitoring and observation 15 minute checks
- Assists nursing staff on unit
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the patients
- Knowledge of risk and safety precautions in the care of patients
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor‘s Degree in psychology or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years‘ experience as MHT or RBT. Minimum of two (2) years in a psychiatric setting with children and adolescents. Mental health professional with knowledge in behavior management
- RBT preferred or in a timely manner completes a BACB approved RBT course and keeps registration to the BACB current.
- Working knowledge of behavior management and those on the Autism spectrum disorder. Effective oral, written, and listening communication skills; computer skills (Microsoft Office Products).
- Physical Demands - Working with patients in their natural environments may require you to lift or move approximately 50 lbs. and be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, sitting, and standing) for extended periods. Fully participate with a team to safely restrain or seclude patients as necessary. Must be able to participate in and complete Handle With Care Training on an annual basis.
