Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Environmental Engineer to be based in our Midland, MI office.

This position is expected to begin in September/October 2022.

Job Overview:
The Entry-Level Environmental Engineer will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Submitting for state and local permitting and preparation of well plugging records and reports
  • Assist in locating well locations through image analysis and georeferencing of historical photographs and drawings
  • Interact in a positive manner with property owners to develop work plans and obtain access agreements
  • Perform various types of surveys in efforts to collect field data
  • Provide contractor oversight to assist in locating wellhead locations and preparing the site for drilling activities.
  • Management of data to create and maintain geodatabases and online GIS map viewers along with using CADD and GIS for developing various project related documents and client communications.
  • Support Project Manager in environmental field and office tasks
  • Commitment to strong safety performance with a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • Due to the nature of this job, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest/experience/education in petroleum sciences

  • Preference to some level of communications education

  • CADD and GIS experience

  • Michigan Stormwater Operator Certification

  • Understanding of environmental consulting services

  • Flexible, responsive, and accessible outside of "normal" working hours depending on project demands.

  • Detail oriented and self-disciplined

  • Ability to work well in a project team in a fast-paced, demanding environment

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

  • Experience/comfort working within industrial/chemical manufacturing facilities, around heavy equipment, and drilling operations

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Needs to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with public, contractors, and regulatory agency personnel.

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment


Additional Information:

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Travel is required for this position. Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.

  • Must meet requirements for entry into client chemical manufacturing facility including:

    • Pass substance abuse testing and subsequent testing as a participant in required random testing program.

    • Pass background screening

    • Attendance to site specific safety training
