Job Description:

Your New Role – Press Secretary

The Press Secretary is primarily responsible for working with governor’s office staff and the governor’s communications team in responding to press inquiries and developing an overall communication strategy in service to the Governor’s priorities and vision for the state.

This position collaborates with the Governor’s Scheduler/Assistant, the Governor, Chief of Staff, Dignitary Protection Unit (DPU), and other Governor’s Office staff as needed to execute their duties to achieve desired outcomes. Ensures the governor is prepared for public appearances, speeches, and meetings. 

This position is full-time but not a standard 8-5, M-F work week. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Seven years of executive-level policy development or foundational experience directly related to the position being recruited

OR

  • Equivalent education and experience

Requested Attributes:

  • Educational background in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, political science, or commensurate professional experience in the fields of journalism, communications, campaigns, or advocacy.

  • Interest in learning and communicating about an array of topics such as housing, behavioral health, education, public safety, climate resilience and more.

  • Ability to work in high volume, fast paced environments.

  • Experience in graphic design, video editing, and photography is a plus. Please provide portfolio of work samples.
