Based in our Shakopee, MN location, you will work directly within the R&D and Sustaining groups and play a significant role in supporting the development of our next generation of sensor products as well as contribute towards sustaining engineering. This is a unique engineering role that requires working cross-functionally with aspects of product development, product test, and manufacturing engineering. You will participate in the test, development, and support our portfolio of products.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Advance the development and testing infrastructure / capabilities of Analytical Design Groups.
  • Perform electronic testing using common laboratory equipment.
  • Evaluate Emerson systems and electronic circuits to a functional block or component level.
  • Specify, design, and create experiments to characterize and evaluate Emerson products by integrating instruments with LabView / Python / C.
  • Document and present DVT reports on the results using Excel and MatLab. Address issues found in DVT
  • Troubleshoot and repair proto-type PCBs and maintain a viable inventory for global development teams. Handle the network of lab computers for the labs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Write instruction manuals to document new testing capabilities / procedures.
  • Complete EMC testing following necessary standards, resolve root cause of failures and document results.

You articulate a compelling, inspired, and relatable vision with a sense of purpose about the future.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from an engineering school.
  • Six (6) years of applicable experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.


Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree.
  • Proficient in LabView, Python, Matlab, C.
  • Experience providing work direction and leadership to others.
  • Knowledge and experience using standard electrical test tools including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, benchtop power supplies, digital multimeters and function generators.
  • Familiarity with electronic schematic capture, PCB layout and simulation tools (e.g. PSpice).
