Activities

This position supports a wide variety of energy businesses spread across various business lines with a rapidly changing and expanding perimeter. In this position you will be a member of the TotalEnergies American Services (TEAS) entity providing HSE legal support and other key services to TotalEnergies' US businesses. Position requires keeping up-to-date with evolving State and Federal environmental regulations and statutes.

Position will assist the Deputy General Counsel with HSE litigation and agency enforcement matters, including document review and discovery, trial preparation, and negotiation of settlements.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Providing legal advice to the corporate HSE Departments, project managers, and operating site HSE personnel on environmental, health and safety regulatory matters and site cleanup requirements including regulatory developments and applicability; statutory interpretation; reporting obligations; cost recovery actions; and other HSE related matters.
  • Providing legal support to business units regarding HSE agency enforcement actions and compliance reporting.
  • Advising on remediation liabilities.
  • Supporting M&A Teams on HSE due diligence and Project Teams on contract review and drafting.
  • In conjunction with the Corporate, Projects, HSSE, Litigation, Trade & Compliance, and M&A teams, working cooperatively on all aspects of the TotalEnergies Company business activities in the U.S.
  • Advise corporate and operating site HSE personnel on environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance, including reporting obligations.
