STATEMENT OF DUTIES

General Statement Of Duties:
Provides direction and supervision to case processing, technical and/or administrative subordinates in case processing and related activities in a Judicial District.
Distinguishing Factors:
Positions in the Supervisor II classification are distinguished from lower level classifications by supervising clerical or technical subordinates and must spend 50% or more time on supervisory activities.

Positions in this classification must supervise at least one subordinate who is classified as Supervisor I and have responsibility for more than one distinct unit.

OR

Positions in this classification must supervise at least two subordinates who are classified as Supervisor I.

Supervisory activities are defined as: establishes expectations, checks work product, provides training, reviews time sheets, approves leave, conducts performance evaluations, coaches and guides staff, participates in the hiring and termination of staff.

Distinct units are defined as separate subject matter areas that require technical knowledge and expertise, such as a specific case type.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to create, initiate, and execute innovative employee relations and programmatic initiatives as well as have a strong vision for building diverse collaborative relationships.

Supervision: Oversee the work of assigned teams/units, including supervisory and court staff.

Assign and prioritize work tasks.

Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Participate in the hiring and termination processes. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback. Operational Management: Ensure daily operations are conducted efficiently within the Clerk's Office or court division.

Leadership: Serve on the district's management team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Acting Role: Assume the duties of the Clerk of Court during absences, maintaining the continuity of operations.

Policy Implementation: Enforce court policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations.

Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication channels with staff, management, and other stakeholders.

Training: Facilitate training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Problem-Solving: Address and resolve operational issues and conflicts promptly and effectively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONT.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Directly supervises more than one unit of clerical or technical subordinates. Supervisory decisions are made in accordance with the Judicial Department's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of legal, court or other related administrative experience and completion of Judicial Executive Leadership Program, Path to Supervision or other equivalent Colorado Judicial Department supervisory coursework.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business, public, or court administration or related area and three years of legal, court or supervisory experience required.

Upon hire and as a condition of continued employment, employees must complete all mandatory supervisor training as outlined in Chief Justice Directive 08-06 within two years of employment.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high precarious places. Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
