Would you like to learn more about the internal operations of county government? Become a Board Reporter for Pinellas County Ideal candidates have excellent computer skills, are highly organized, write with a keen attention to detail, and have worked closely with government boards and committees.

This is advanced clerical work recording and preparing minutes for various county boards and committees. Employees in this class record notes of proceedings on laptop computers using digital audio recording equipment and software, and interpret and summarize verbatim transcripts, and condense them into minute form.

What Would You Do?

Prepare accurate verbatim transcripts Compose accurate and concise minutes by utilizing transcripts, audio recordings, and backup materials Ensure pertinent data is included in minutes and that information is accurately reflected as a matter of public record

What Do You Need To Have?

Experience - secretarial or advanced clerical experience.

4 years of experience as described above; or Associate degree and at least 2 years of experience as described above; or Bachelor’s or higher-level degree and some experience as described above.

Additional Requirements

Ability to accurately type at 55 words per minute Ability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations Must be able to travel to frequent meetings held in a variety of locations across the County

Highly Desirable

Possess skills and abilities to attend and record, using a digital audio recording system, meetings of various boards and committees for the purpose of preparing transcripts and minutes Possess skills to prepare follow-up agendas summarizing actions taken by the Board of County Commissioners Possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to compose minutes by utilizing transcripts, audio recordings, and backup materials Knowledge and skill in minute taking for government committees highly desired
