The Commodity Manager is responsible for the overall development and execution of electronic commodity categories which includes PCBAs, electro-mechanical box-build assemblies, wire/cable, switches/breakers, batteries and motors. This position has responsibility for multiple locations and uses tools such as reverse auctions, demonstrating, VA/VE, and global sourcing to effectively drive cost out of the supply chain. This position will lead all aspects of and run assigned commodities on a corporate, worldwide basis, inclusive of the RIDGID and Greenlee Professional Tools brands. Developing robust supply partnerships for legacy and new products ever-growing electronic designs. Control costs through the development of cost-effective, efficient, high-quality, lean initiatives. Develop contracts, using worldwide volumes where possible.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
  • Develops and drives long-term supplier strategy deployment, supplier cost modeling, supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, negotiations, long-term contracts, continuous supplier performance improvement, and supplier relationship development
  • Develop high-efficiency, high-quality domestic and/or global sources of supply for materials, products, and services, focusing on supply base rationalization.
  • Lead commodity spending using sophisticated data management systems, processes, and databases. Focus on risk, price, quality, delivery, supply chain efficiency (Lean Supply Chain), ROTC, and trade working capital.
  • Able to lead projects, a cross-functional team, including suppliers, engineering, operations and marketing, to efficiently implement a commodity strategy, cost savings initiative, or transition a source of supply.
  • Maintains a confirmed understanding of crucial commodity trends, such as active & passive semi-conductors, lithium cells, silver/gold and copper, including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes.
  • Proactively supervise semi-conductor lifecycle to ensure healthy supply of component material on a global level
  • Negotiates long term agreements with outstanding price, payment terms, quality, and delivery terms in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships that deliver competitive advantages including the lowest total cost, the highest quality products, and excellent customer service.
  • Performs root cause analysis on Supplier delivery/quality issues and implements corrective actions via supplier improvement plans
  • Participate on New Product Development Teams, and Emerson Commodity Teams. Assist to create consensus agreements.
  • Support and conduct reverse auctions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain or Operations or related field.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in a high-paced, multi-location environment.
  • Tech savvy, with emphasis on systems such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JDE/SAP/QlikView, Portal, Insight, IBEE, and Team Center.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Analytical skills coupled with intellectual curiosity for root cause and countermeasures.
  • Strong project management and team leadership skills with the ability to develop strong support for change with all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Hard-working, results oriented, and motivated to work optimally without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of purchasing systems and principles including experience with, auctions, VA/VE, and other demonstrating tools.
  • Critical thinking and ability to be forward looking, envision the potential and long-term goals.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs and sit for long periods of time
  • Travel, including overnight, 10 - 20%
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field or MBA
  • Extensive knowledge of selected commodities.
  • Low-cost country sourcing

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm.
