Roadway Engineer (PE) Project Manager - Transportation TxDOT PS&E / Schematic Design - Houston, TX

Halff has an opening for a Roadway Engineer, with a Texas PE License, to be a Project Manager on our Transportation team based out of our Houston, TX office. The ideal candidate would have experience in roadway / transportation design and PS&E / schematic design. This position will be primarily responsible for performing transportation design on roadway & highway design projects for TxDOT and other agencies. This role will allow you the opportunity to be trained and mentored by an experienced Roadway / Transportation Professional Engineer and to gain ever increasing professional responsibility. Roadway Engineer (PE) Project Manager - Transportation TxDOT PS&E / Schematic Design Responsibilities:

  • Works under a Team Leader in the development of TxDOT roadway design and PS&E / Schematic Design
  • Manages roadway / transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
  • Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT’s, and technical staff
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
  • Project controls updates and progress reports
  • Collaborates with clients and other consultants
  • Assists with business development activities

Roadway Engineer (PE) Project Manager - Transportation TxDOT PS&E / Schematic Design Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas or able and willing to obtain within six months of start date
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive design experience on TxDOT roadway / transportation PS&E / Schematic Design projects
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Experience managing design and plan production
  • Strong decision making skills
  • A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
