General Description:

In this position, the major emphasis will lie in demonstrating high-quality teaching in a specific curriculum/learning area. Learning Specialists will lead teachers in the improvement of their practice in the classroom through implementation of the College's Teaching and Learning Framework.

Learning Specialists are responsible and accountable to the College Principal Team.The key focus of the role is to model excellence in teaching and learning within their faculty area. They will provide professional learning to teachers in improving their skill, knowledge and effectiveness in implementing the College¿s Teaching and Learning Framework in the classroom. It will necessitate close liaison with Curriculum Leaders, other Learning Specialists, and Team Leaders to ensure effective implementation of agreed programs and policies.

Learning Specialists will have a deep knowledge and expertise in research-based high-quality teaching and learning strategies and will be at the forefront of assisting teachers in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students.

Learning Specialists will be proactive in identifying College teaching and learning needs, using data to inform teaching approaches and in recognizing changing needs in education. They will work with relevant teams of staff to develop and implement strategies for change.

Communication and Collaboration
Learning Specialists will work collaboratively with Curriculum Leaders to implement the Teaching and Learning Framework. Learning Specialists and Curriculum Leaders will work together in their faculty to lead the implementation of evidence-based practice in the classroom. They will ensure that the curriculum is guaranteed and viable and responsive to the needs of the students.
