DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Associate (PSA), Corrections, you provide psychological services under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist Manager, to a population of individuals incarcerated in their assigned state correctional institution. The purpose of this service delivery is to ensure individuals‘ mental health and general emotional needs are addressed efficiently and effectively during a period of incarceration with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections.

You assist the Licensed Psychologist Manager in planning and organizing outpatient mental health and psychological services for the state correctional institution, including the development and promulgation of patient‘s Individual recovery plans (i.e., treatment plans). You may administer psychological tests and intelligence tests, where applicable, under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist Manager. You conduct mental status examinations under the supervision of the Licensed Psychologist Manager and may frequently be preparing psychological assessments. You conduct both individual and group treatment for individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses, individuals convicted of sex offenses, individuals dually diagnosed, and general population inmates as needed, for crisis related services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
    • Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Master‘s degree in psychology or a closely related field, which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology, counseling, educational counseling, rehabilitation, human development, learning, or motivation.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
