Overview:


ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Land Survey Technician position will assist with land measurement projects. This role will utilize specialized tools like theodolites and electronic distance meters for precise measurements while collecting meticulous data, sketching the area, and subsequent computer entry. Additionally, the technician will work independently to support the surveying team by verifying their notes and ensuring overall accuracy. This full-time position is located in Portland, OR.


Responsibilities:

  • Utilize computerized data capture, storage, query and analysis techniques for visual displays, spatial analysis, and tabular reports on a wide variety of geographical projects:
  • Create geo-processing models and scripts.
  • Design and maintain geographic and relational data bases.
  • Using ArcGIS, provide geospatial support in the Agency’s maintenance, operation and development of new facilities.
  • Create exhibits and maps using ArcMap and ArcPro.
  • Using ArcGIS, perform versioned editing in a Spatial Database Engine (SDE) database.
  • Assist in the transfer and storage of large quantities of digital data. Facilitate the flow of data between the Survey Section and other groups inside the company particularly Mapping, Real Property Services and Transmission Engineering groups.
  • Coordinate with Master Contractors regarding best practices for the implementation of Geospatial workflows, data delivery and data retrieval.
  • Manage files and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Ensure all official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes and in accordance with Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures.
  • Provide support to the surveying and mapping staff by checking for discrepancies between field and record data, and assist with resolution.
  • Provide technical geospatial support to land surveyors, technicians and other professionals within the organization.
  • Thoroughly inspect and check deliverables for accuracy and correctness, alerting appropriate parties of identified discrepancies; provide resolution recommendations as requested.
  • Diagnose and resolve spatial data discrepancies.


Requirements:

  • Associate of Science degree in Land Surveying or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) preferred.
  • 5+ years of land surveying technician or GIS technician experience is required.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS 10.x, including editing vector and tabular data.
  • Proficiency with ArcPro, including editing vector and tabular data.
  • Basic knowledge of CADD software (Bentley Microstation/InRoads).
  • Basic knowledge of field to finish land survey workflows.
  • Familiarity with modern horizontal and vertical datums such as NAD83 (2011), NAD83 (CORS), NAVD88, NAD27, and NGVD29.
  • Knowledge of Coordinate Systems, including State Plane Coordinates.
  • Knowledge of surveying principles and practices, including measurement principles.
  • Knowledge of spatial data standards and QA/QC methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability implementing standardized workflows.
  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certification
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
