Role
A classroom teacher at Thornbury High School is responsible for designing and delivering an educational program for their students which is consistent with the aims and objectives of the School and the Department of Education.
This particular role requires the successful applicant to have relevant VCE English (English, Literature, English Language &/or EAL) teaching experience, as they may be required to teach Year 12 English as part of their 2025 allotment. Furthermore, this role will require the successful candidate to teach 7-10 English and Humanities classes, with the possibility of teaching some VCE Humanities, depending on their experience.
Position responsibilities:
The role of the classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
¿Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
¿Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
¿Creating a calm, positive environment that is conducive to students¿ learning, in line with the school¿s student well-being and engagement policies and processes
¿Assessing the educational development of students, compiling and maintaining records of that development and providing reports to parents/guardians
¿Being actively involved in the school¿s professional learning program, including professional learning communities (PLC);
¿Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;
¿Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
¿Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
