Responsibilities

include:

Designs, deploys, and operates systems, networks, applications, and tools that support sponsor missions.

Provides integration of hardware, software, and other components to solve operational challenges for sponsor missions and operators.

Performs data and systems engineering functions to support cyber operations activities and systems.

Engineers and deploys security and defensive countermeasures and controls.

Ensures system security needed in operations are assessed, established, and included in design and development.

Leads execution of security requirements definition, systems analysis, systems design, security hardening, security test and evaluation, and certification and accreditation.

Supports operational systems and performs activities such as vulnerability scanning, network, and systems security configurations, etc.

Design an architecture of new approaches, methods and techniques for cyber defense and resiliency for information technology and operational technology systems and networks.

Expected to interface with external entities including law enforcement, intelligence and other government organizations and agencies.

Developing and leading multiple cybersecurity projects as well as mentoring other mid- and junior-level staff.

Coordinating the scientific and programmatic aspects of multiple projects and teams.

Representing your portfolio to Laboratory leadership, sponsors, and the external community.

Also interested in staff with interest in performing one or more of the following:

Designs and develops new systems, applications, and solutions for national security sponsors. Investigates and proposes solutions to advancing tools and techniques for cyber defense. Developing and leading strategic and/or tactical relationships with academic and commercial partners and increasing Laboratory visibility in the cybersecurity domain. Has wide-ranging experience in the cybersecurity field and uses that knowledge and experience to meet mission objectives, innovate, and solve complex challenges in creative and effective ways.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA and 9+ years of relevant work experience -OR- MS/MA and 7+ years of relevant work experience -OR- PhD with 5+ year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

MS/MA in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, information Technology, or closely related field and 15+ years of relevant experience. Experience in leading a team in design, development, configuration, and management of high value, and critical enterprise-level systems and networks. Execute proof of concept and Initial Operating Capability developments of telecommunications and IT systems, including hardware and software identification, procurement package development, logistics coordination, installation planning, deployment, and transition to support staff. Responsible for understanding system-of-systems capability working with optical and IP engineers. Experience in conducting requirements creation, specification development, system design, system integration, developmental test and evaluation, installation and acceptance testing, and in-operation test and evaluation. Experience in evaluating requirements and technical feasibility to find optimal solutions for unique network structures or environments. Familiarity with: RF, fiber optic, Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), Course and Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM/DWDM), Optical Mesh and Reconfigurable Optical Add / Drop Multiplexers (ROADM), Frame Relay, ATM, Ethernet, Internet Protocol Routing and Switching, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), computing (Windows, Linux), storage, virtualization, cloud (private/public). Experience in developing policies that influence best practices in cyber security, network design and development, and related software engineering. Wide understanding of current cybersecurity vulnerabilities and operational landscape. Experience in design, development and implementation of countermeasures, cyber security systems integration, and manages tools specific to cyber security operations. Responsible for understanding all sponsor requirements and decomposing those requirements into achievable deliverables and communicating with sponsor to guide requirements and goals. Experience with leading varied teams of mixed skills and ability/experience levels. Experience in developing and presenting material to communicate project status and challenges to PNNL and sponsor program management and leadership. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with clients and laboratory scientific staff and management. Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.

Requirements:

Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the candidate selected is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP). 

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 months can be demonstrated.
