Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Track Engineer, to join our Rail & Transit team, located Murray, UT. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Rail & Transit, this position will be responsible for managing and leading track design expertise in relation to engineering work associated with the AECOM Rail & Transit projects.

Job Summary/Responsibilities
• Leading development of and performance specifications and trackwork design to meet project requirements;
• Performing and/or coordinating the planning, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of the track designs to effectively address track design, construction, interface and maintenance issues;
• Managing track engineering staff and consultants engaged to provide track design for commuter, light rail and class 1 railroads;
• Performing design reviews pertaining to the design of the track alignment and trackwork through all project phases;
• Reviewing design standard variances, participating in and reviewing “value engineering” initiatives, and obtaining stakeholders buy-in;
• Supporting quality control/quality assurance processes;
• Reviewing technical documents for tender; working cooperatively with other disciplines in other departments in order to meet client requirements;
• Reviewing proposals, and providing written comments for design and technical proposal submissions and/or design-build;
• Developing requests for third party Work Plans and reviewing, negotiating, recommending release, and endorsing invoices of Work Plan phases as they relate to program-level trackwork initiatives;
• Representing AECOM on all assigned technical matters relating to your expertise in track and track integration design;
• Regular contacts are with all levels of employees and management staff in the Rail & Transit department.;
• Regular contact with contractors, consultants and other technical personnel;
• Other duties as assigned/required.

Minimum Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Utah is required
• Commuter Rail, LRT Systems and freight track design experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with integrating track designs with rail systems including communications, signaling and traction power
• Hands-on experience with embedded and direct fixation track slab design
• Demonstrated experience in leading mass transit trackwork designs and installation
• Tunnels Track Design and Integration experience is an asset
