Type of Employment: PartTime 24 hours per week.

Estimate Pay (Minimum): $30.93/hour.

Paid Time Off per Year: 80hours per year accruing from day of Hire.

Sick Leave per Year: 56hours per year accruing from day of Hire.

Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays.

Contract Period of Performance: 01 January 2025 31 December 2030.

Working Hours

The Radiological Technician work three (3) days a week 8hours per day excluding holidays. Working hours between 0730 and 1600 with a 30minute unpaid lunch break with working hours do not exceed 24 hours per week. Overtime is not authorized.

Summary of Duties

The Radiological Technician will provide radiologic studies on the inmate population as ordered by appropriate clinicians including any and all radiology procedures needed without any technical support. The current radiological equipment provided at the institution is a General Electric Definium 5000.

Qualifications

  • Fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Be licensed by any state including territory and commonwealth licenses (even if it is a different state from that in which the health Care services are performed).
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
  • Proof of Insurability.

Attire

The Radiological Technician is expected to wear professional attire at all times (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. Jeans (of any color) tshirts sandals tank tops and sweatpants/shirts are not considered appropriate professional attire.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Current radiological equipment provided at the institution is a General Electric Definium 5000.

  • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the Adult In Custody (herein after referred to as AIC) population at the institution.
  • Transmit retrieve Xray images and reports electronically and scan reports into AIC Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
  • Receive training to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.
  • Work with an AIC population from a variety of cultural. racial religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
  • Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures
  • Schedule exams and maintain records.
  • Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
  • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
  • Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
  • Independently perform all radiographic procedures i.e. chest bone skull spine and portable xrays etc.
  • Notify Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while patient is undergoing an exam so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
  • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Work with Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
  • Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
  • Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the local medical protocols.
  • Wear outer protective clothing and obey Center for Disease Control universal precautions at all times.
  • Function in other duties commensurate of a Radiology Technician.
  • Computerization and printing of daily log.
  • Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
  • Printing of all folder and exam labels.
  • Completing all xray studies ordered by the medical staff.
  • Preparing xrays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation
  • Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
  • Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on xray equipment as needed.
