Cordele Judicial Circuit – Assistant Public Defender II, III or IV

The Cordele Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender II, III or IV. The Circuit serves Crisp, Dooly, Ben Hill, and Wilcox counties. Primary duties include representing indigent clients in criminal cases in Superior Court. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position. Applicants must be a current licensed member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Emphasis will be placed upon the candidates’ dedication and demonstrated commitment to indigent defense. Trial experience is preferred.

Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender II, III, and IV will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs beginning-level, mid-level, or high-profile complex cases. Performs other related duties as required.

Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university AND license to practice law in the State of Georgia OR eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring OR reciprocity AND Two years of relevant legal experience OR Two years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 2 (LEP021)
