Job summary:

Responsible for the operation of a dedicated mammography equipment to perform radiologic procedures. Typical duties including operating equipment, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

Responsible for obtaining the highest quality radiological exams under the direct or indirect supervision of a radiologist per established Imaging guidelines and protocols. Assists Team Leader with Quality Control of equipment and documentation to the standards of MQSA and ACR.
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing routine screening and diagnostic breast imaging studies and other radiologic procedures assigned at a satisfactory level with minimal supervision.

Duties:

  • Greets patients by confirming identification; reviewing imaging requests & patients' history; checking for special instructions; performing the anticipated studies.
  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures & equipments; answering questions; assisting patients throughout procedures; providing follow up instructions.
  • Maintains safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Documents patients' mammogram and other services by completing patient record charting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must have current California mammography certification
  • Must have greater than 200 mammography exams performed in the past 2 yrs.
  • Must have initial 8 hrs in digital breast mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis

 

Experience:

  • Must be able to demonstrate time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good computer skills.
  • Must be able to operate mammographic equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate routine to complex positioning ability to acheive images which meet American College of Radiology (ACR) and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) criteria for appropriate views.
  • Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) experience preferred.
  • Bone Density/Dexa modality experience a plus.

 

Certification/Licensure:

  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Must hold current California licenses as Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in Radiography and Mammography modalities.
  • Must provide documentation for initial training and/or 40 hours of course work per MQSA and California regulations in Mammography including Digital Mammography.
  • Current CPR (BLS) a plus.
