Surveyor - Butte

The  Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for either a journey level or an entry level in the Butte District. The journey level position is responsible for performing advanced technical and professional field survey work; serving as party chief for field surveys; reviewing surveys to determine the validity of the evidence and methods used and to ensure accurate survey information; maintaining equipment and inventories; and performing other duties as assigned.

The entry level position is responsible for performing a variety of technical and pre-professional survey duties. Examples of duties include: making measurements, collecting and recording survey data, operating survey equipment, setting stakes/monuments, researching records, recovering survey evidence, making rudimentary survey calculations, drafting at an entry level, maintaining survey equipment and sustaining an inventory of survey supplies.

Mostly day travel throughout the Butte District, overnight is rare.
