Position Summary & Responsibilities

Summary:

The Office of The State Bank Commissioner (OSBC) has a Financial Examiner opening in their Consumer & Mortgage Lending Consumer Credit division. This position will be allowed remote work when they are not examining a financial institution or needed at a field office for meetings. The hire for this position must be within travel distance to one of our field offices in Lenexa or Topeka, KS.

This is an entry level position within the Financial Examiner career path which requires basic accounting and finance skills. Employees receive on-the-job and external training necessary to examine entities that are licensed by the Division pursuant to state statutes. The entry level Financial Examiner (FE) participates primarily on examinations of non-complex licensees. During an examination, the FE works as a member of the examination team and completes tasks assigned by the Examiner-in-Charge (EIC). The FE performs examination work and other duties as assigned with close supervision and guidance by the Regional Manager (RM).

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Requests and organizes licensee information and documentation in a timely manner prior to the examination to facilitate the examination process.

Follows established examination procedures to compile and analyze the regulated entity’s operations and compliance. Develops correct conclusions from the collected data.

Summarizes and critiques violations of law, internal procedures, and general business operations for review with company management at an examination exit meeting.

Prepares the report of examination, as directed by the EIC, that is accurate, grammatically correct, logically arranged, and factually supports conclusions drawn.

Researches consumer complaints as assigned and recommends action to be taken.

Performs any other additional duties as required by the Regional Manager, Director of Examinations, Deputy Commissioner, or Bank Commissioner.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (transcripts required)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience.

Personal mobile device capable of utilizing multi-factor authentication applications as necessary.

Travel Requirements:

In-state and out-of-state travel.

Up to 25% overnight travel.

Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a closely related field.

Work experience in the financial or regulatory industry.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:

Valid State of Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. Each applicant (even non-KS residents) must apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days from the date of their job offer.
