Summary:

Are you ready to embark on a rewarding maintenance journey? Look no further Our Engineering Mechanic II position at the MDI Hospital and Health Centers offers a world of skilled repairs, innovative alterations, and facility enhancements. Here's what awaits you.

With little supervision, performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties equivalent with a licensed Journeyman in a particular trade. Duties include the repair, alteration and modification of buildings, equipment and facilities in the hospital and health centers.

Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

  1. Must be a High School/GED graduate.
  2. Must be a licensed boiler operator in the State of Maine.
  3. Must have a valid driver's license.
  4. Valid and current Journeyman's License or equivalent in particular trade or valued skill
Experience Required:
  1. Relevant experience needed in order to maintain valid Journeyman's license or equivalent skill.
Special Requirements:
  1. Ability to perform and supervise a variety of general semiskilled to skilled maintenance; alteration and repair to machinery, equipment or facilities in accordance with basic skills, abilities, and standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturers' instructions.
  2. Ability to perform routine electrical maintenance, replacement or alteration of circuit wiring, switches, control equipment and mechanisms, motors, transformers, relays, generators, appliances, fixtures, alarms, communication equipment, etc.
  3. Ability to perform general plumbing maintenance such as: maintain, repair and make alterations to steam, gas, water, air and sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures; bend, cut seams, and thread pipe, wipe joints, test joints, and pipe systems for leaks; repair and replace valves, repair leaks, and clean drain stoppages.
  4. Ability to perform general welding - welding, cutting, joining metals not requiring critical test tolerance or certification.
  5. Ability to read and understand blueprints.

  1. Ability to assess a situation and assign tasks according to individual staff ability.
  2. Ability to solve problems and conflicts in a positive way.
  3. Ability to plan for the future and advise Engineering Supervisor of needed changes.
  4. Must be emotionally mature and able to keep a clear head in an emergency situation.
Physical Demands:
  1. Ability to be on feet most of the day.
  2. Ability to lift, pull and push equipment.
  3. Ability to stoop and reach.
  4. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  5. Adequate vision and manual skills.
  6. Ability to work on roof or other high places such as ladders.
Environment:
  1. May be exposed to the following hazards: needles or other sharp objects, asbestos, hazardous chemicals, dust, fumes from solvents, oil, paints or other materials, welding fumes, extreme changes in temperature, high voltage, biohazards and other job-related items.
  2. May be required to perform maintenance tasks in room occupied by patients.
  3. May be required to perform maintenance tasks in very noisy areas.


Salary Description

$21.81/hr.-$32.55/hr.
