Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

Position: Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Chatsworth CA

Job Overview: The school is seeking a dedicated and skilled fulltime Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students with autism spectrum disorders helping them improve their communication skills and overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose speech language voice and fluency disorders in students.
    • Utilize a variety of testing methods and tools to evaluate students communication abilities.
    • Prepare detailed evaluation reports and maintain accurate records of assessments.
  2. Therapy and Intervention:

    • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
    • Provide direct therapy services to students both individually and in small groups.
    • Use evidencebased practices and interventions to address speech and language disorders.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation:

    • Work collaboratively with teachers parents and other school staff to support students communication needs.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional input on students speech and language goals.
    • Serve as a resource for school staff on speech and language development and related issues.
  4. Program Development and Implementation:

    • Develop and implement schoolwide programs to support speech and language development.
    • Conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers and parents on strategies to support communication skills.
    • Stay current with best practices in the field of speechlanguage pathology through ongoing professional development.
  5. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of therapy sessions progress notes and student performance.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to speech and language services.
    • Prepare and submit required documentation for Medicaid billing and other funding sources.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid California state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in SpeechLanguage Pathology (CCCSLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
