Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a talented Mid-Level Civil Engineer to join our New England Transportation business line. The ideal candidate will be part of the Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) Engineering team located in Rocky Hill, CT, responsible for a variety of engineering tasks including, but not limited to conceptual engineering, design, planning, final engineering, constructability, and cost estimating.

Also, this role is responsible for development of designs, plans, technical specifications, quantity and cost estimates for a variety or railroad-oriented tasks, including but not limited to equipment foundations and elevated steel equipment and enclosure platforms, steel stairs, small retaining walls, associated drainage and grading plans, duct banks, demolition plans, catenary structure attachments and other miscellaneous tasks as necessary.

In addition, ensure compliance with all federal, state & local regulations. experience working with Connecticut Department of Transportation, Metro-North Railroad, Amtrak, MBTA, or other passenger/commuter railroad agencies along with working knowledge of applicable AREMA, IEEE, NESC and other industry standards a plus.

Typical tasks and daily duties:
  • Serves as engineer on mid- to large size railroad projects.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of construction on or about a railroad.
  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
