Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Biologist to be based in our Phoenix, AZ or Tucson, AZ offices. This position will support our Impact, Assessment, and Permitting team within our Environment business line.

This position is expected to begin September/October 2022.

Job Overview:
The Entry-Level Biologist will support a variety of projects and clients in Arizona, with a focus on field assessments and surveys, construction monitoring, and reporting.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds

  • Monitoring of construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements and/or permits

  • Preparation of reports documenting survey or monitoring results

  • Preparation of a variety of technical documents and/or report sections

  • Traveling to project sites in Arizona and potentially throughout the southwest will be required.

  • Participation as an active and positive member of AECOM’s environmental practice team in Arizona.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Wildlife Studies or related field (e.g., ecology, wildlife management, fisheries management, etc.).

  • Valid U.S. Driver License required (and must be able to safely drive to job sites).

  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word.

  • Familiarity with Arizona wildlife and plants.

  • Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Organized with a detail-oriented work style.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Relevant professional work or internship experience.

  • Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife and plant species across Arizona.

  • General understanding of how to operate a Global Position Systems (GPS) unit and other mapping tools to navigate sites and collect survey data.

  • Capable of working in small groups.

  • Capable of delivering high quality technical memoranda and reports.

  • Ability to interpret data and convey complex thoughts and ideas in clear, concise written and verbal form.

Additional Information:

  • Employee may be asked to submit a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) at the time of hire, as this position could require operating a vehicle when visiting field/job sites.

  • Sponsorship and relocation are not offered for this position.

  • Please note AECOM may offer the option to work partially remote for this position, although a candidate local to the AZ is necessary.
