ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND STANDARDS:

Meets, greets and assists patients in preparing for their dental visits. Collects patient information, demographic, medical records and insurance information. Assures accuracy of patient information in RPMS/Dentrix systems. Scheduling appointments for patients using Electronic Dental Records within the Dentrix software system. Properly takes check, debit and credit cards for payment utilizing our online clearinghouse Waystar. Reconcile daily co-pays and patient payments. Calculates and applies sliding fee discounts per the patient billing policies. Handle all calls in a positive and professional manner while providing necessary comfort, empathy, and information to the caller to resolve problems. Works with patients to explain costs of dental treatment and coverage through all insurance and self-pay options. Assist Dental Office Manager with referrals for patients to specialist(s) as needed, through Purchase Referred Care Program and insurances and coordination of care with area dental specialists. Explains and clarifies questions about dental treatment, appointments and timing of delivery of care. Helps patients in gaining information about health center services, providers, referral and ancillary services. Responsible for Lighthouse 360 and weekly reminder calls. Directs patients to appropriate areas for treatment and escorts as necessary around health center facilities. Works as a team member with clinical and non-clinical staff in a fast paced, highly visible, sometimes stressful setting and make sound decisions. Ability to prioritize, multi-task accordingly and work independently on projects with little or no supervision. Understands necessity of preserving patient confidentiality. Professional conduct, ethics, and confidentiality are expected at all times. Cultural sensitivity is a key component of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

1-3 years Customer Services (Required)

1-2 years experience as a dental receptionist (Preferred)

Experience with Dentrix (Preferred)

Be familiar with Dental Terminology or willing to take Dental Terminology within a year of hire (Required)

Skills:

Fax, phone, copier, personal PC, Microsoft & RPMS, Dentrix Office applications
