The Opportunity:


We are at a critical juncture, poised to translate innovative prototypes into a reality that will redefine luxury on a global scale. To achieve this ambitious vision, we are actively seeking a passionate and visionary Chief Design & Operations Officer (CDOO) to join our small, but passionate, all-female team in this equity-only position. This is a unique opportunity to become a vested owner in a company poised to revolutionise luxury. There is no salary for this role.

At Kali India, we seek a CDOO who embodies the spirit of our brand: a unique blend of audacious creativity and strategic business sense.


Design Leadership:


  • You possess a minimum of 10 years' experience leading and managing design projects across the entire product development lifecycle – from conceptualising design ideas, with a strong focus on metals and jewellery making, to bringing them to life through successful prototyping, production and launch. Although we're a startup, you understand how to adapt your vision for a small, agile team.
  • You are a connoisseur of luxury, with a keen eye for discerning the true essence of timeless design that transcends fleeting trends into heirloom pieces.
  • You have a proven track record of creating iconic designs in metals and jewellery, while also
  • demonstrating a deep understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes for a variety of materials like leather, gemstones, wood, and marble.


Operational Excellence & Commercial Acumen:


  • You are a master of streamlining processes and optimising resources. Your experience encompasses vendor negotiation, cost analysis, and comfort working with numbers.
  • You possess exceptional commercial acumen, translating innovative design concepts into commercially viable products with a keen eye on profitability and controlled scalability.


Building a Strong Vendor Network:


  • You possess a well-established network of qualified vendors with expertise in working with high-quality materials like metals (including alloys), gemstones, leather, wood, and marble. This network should ideally be based in India or have a strong understanding of the Indian craft landscape.


Collaborative Spirit:


  • You're a natural collaborator, fostering a positive and open communication environment. You thrive in a fast evolving setting and understand the importance of wearing multiple hats and being adaptable.

Qualifications:


A degree in Jewellery Design, Metalsmithing, or a similar design discipline, coupled with an MBA/MS in operations, would be ideal. However, extensive experience can be substituted for formal education.
