DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Fort Indiantown Gap‘s diesel-powered and natural gas-powered generators. Utilizing diagnostic equipment, you will troubleshoot and resolve a variety of generator failure issues, including mechanical faults and electronic problems. Your duties will include modifying generator systems by installing parts and documenting the changes made. You will also maintain other related equipment, such as transfer switches and emergency light plants.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime may be required as needed.
- As an essential employee, you will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of skilled experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of generators, which includes one year of skilled experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel generators; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of skilled experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel generators.
Special Requirements:
- You must have possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Completion of any formal training (high school or vocational program, apprenticeship, or post high school technical program) in the electrical trade
- Experience as an electrician
- Experience working with generators
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on generators
- Experience pulling oil for sampling from generators
- Experience trouble shooting mechanical and electrical issues in generators
- Experience installing new generators and manual and/or automatic transfer switches for backup power to facilities
- Experience working on Diesel, LP, and/or Natural Gas generators
- Experience working from construction sketches, diagrams, and/or blueprints in the electrical trade
