Inventory and Store Spec I
The Canteen Worker performs routine inventory and retail sales work in the operation of
the Cactus Grill. Duties include ordering of merchandise, preparing and selling all food
items in a clean and sanitary environment. Work involves stocking, arranging, transferring
inventory, monitoring store operations for compliance with established procedures, and
preparation of all menu items. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for
the use of initiative and independent judgment. Duties are performed under the
supervision of the Canteen Manager
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Assists the Clients, Visitors, and employees in the sales of canteen merchandise. Orders, receives and documents merchandise and supplies as needed. Assists in food preparation for all canteen customers. Reports to the Canteen Manager on the status of the Canteen operations. Insures collection of each sale and/or coupon sale and proper recording on cash registers and receipts. Ensures the proper recording of sales and the proper collection of cash. Loads and unloads stock and merchandise. Performs related work as assigned.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Working knowledge of retail sales practices including ordering, receiving, inventory control, display of merchandise, and record keeping. Knowledge of inventory record keeping. Knowledge of retail sales practices and procedures. Ability to provide direct supervision to working clients. Ability to work in close harmony with persons at various levels of authority. Ability to operate adding machines and cash registers efficiently. Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationship with vendors and suppliers of merchandise. Ability to communicate effectively both in an oral and written communication. Ability and patience to communicate effectively with Clients of the facility. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and assist in carrying out assigned duties. Ability to work in a fast-paced food service area.
