Summary

The Long-Term Care Registered Nurse provides direct care to Veterans with a variety of chronic medical conditions. On this 60-bed unit, RNs care for Veterans including short and long stay rehabilitation needs, SCI, dementia care and hospice. This unit provides 24/7 care in a homelike environment. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care of our nation's heroes. This position is located at the main Reno VA campus.

The CLC is a 60 bed unit, and RNs care for Veterans with an array of conditions including short and long stay rehabilitation needs, SCI, dementia care and hospice. The CLC RN provides 24/7 care in a homelike environment.

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Communicates with physicians and other clinicians. Acts with integrity using basic ethic principals. Developing competency, effective compassionate delivery of health services congruent with the health care system mission and vision. Demonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Provides effective, compassionate delivery of health services congruent with the health care system mission and vision. Appropriately delegates and sets priorities for patient care. Assess and provides feedback on the performance of others. Participates on service and medical center committees and task forces to improve nursing practice and patient care. Identifying developmental and training needs for the facility, service, or program and providing or making provision for such development and training Giving service, facility, or program advice as a subject matter expert on work and practice matters.
