Office Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Overtime required as needed)
Pay Range: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Overview

The Environmental Laboratory Analyst plays a vital role in our mission by supporting daily lab operations. You will perform sample analyses in compliance with NELAC standards and EPA regulations, contributing to the accurate and reliable data our clients depend on. Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor‘s degree in Chemistry or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in an analytical or environmental laboratory.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in ion chromatography (Chromeleon software) and gas chromatography (PeakSimple software) is preferred.
    • Familiarity with NELAC/NELAP standards is a plus.
    • Experience with ISE (Fluoride) and pH meters is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Management and Analysis:

    • Approve, log, and process air samples, including PM, M26/M26A, M6/8, M18, and M13B (in development).
    • Perform analyses using ICS 1100 systems, SRI GC, Orion fluoride meter, and Oakton pH meter.
  • Data Integrity and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all analyses and QC data.
    • Compile and report results in compliance with EPA and NELAC standards.
  • Instrument Maintenance and Calibration:

    • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of lab instruments.
    • While not required, candidates with troubleshooting skills will stand out.
  • Independent Workflow with Regular Updates:

    • Work independently to manage daily tasks and project progress.
    • Provide regular updates to the Lab Manager for seamless task transitions.
  • Other Duties:

    • Prepare reagents and media for lab and field use.
    • Ensure strict adherence to lab safety protocols.

Daily Workflow and Sample Types
  • Sample Types: Air samples from stack tests, including PM, M26/M26A, M6/8, and M18.
  • Volume: Processes 0-5 samples daily, with potential growth to 10-15 samples as demand increases.
  • Quality Control: Integrated directly into lab forms; no LIMS system is used.

  • Safety Equipment: Lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, fume hoods, face shields, and spill kits provided. Weekly safety shower tests ensure a safe work environment.
