AECOM is seeking a Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to be based in Oakland, CA.

Job responsibilities include, but are nit limited to:

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical or equivalent Engineering degree with exhibited experience in mechanical ventilation design. Master’s degree would be considered an asset

  • Capable of designing mechanical ventilation systems using engineering calculations and preparing design drawings and specifications

  • Capable of conducting computerized flow analysis for tunnel ventilation systems

  • Knowledge of industry tools: SES, CFD, and FDS software programs

  • Knowledge of CAD, REVIT software

  • Experience with ventilation equipment selection and installation

  • Familiarity with fans and controls

  • Familiarity with fire life safety codes and standards (NFPA, AMCA, ASHRAE)

  • Good verbal and written communications skills and knowledge of common office software

  • Self-motivated and experienced in performing calculations and delivering quality work

  • Demonstrated abilities to work within project timeframes and budget constraints

  • A desire to work with AECOM’s other divisions/regions and interact directly with major clients

  • The candidate with over 3 or more years' experience in tunnel ventilation system analysis and design are preferred

  • Engineer in training (EIT) certificate preferable or willing to obtain the certificate and eventually PE license

  • Demonstrate communication skills requiring client interaction

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role

  • Ensuring accuracy of design and contract documents
