�An opportunity has arisen to join the Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) Team as an Assistant Finance Manager. The Assistant Finance Manager will work closely with and report to one of the Finance Business Partners as well as providing support across the wider finance function, including the accounts payable and financial accounting team. ��

�The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a broad range of skills and competencies, whilst gaining valuable insight into the important work carried out by the agency.

Job description

Provide financial support and advice to specific directorates within Transport Scotland to support the delivery of operational objectives and statutory responsibilities within available resources.�
� Monitor the application of financial and budgetary controls, highlight improvements and report to budget managers to suggest resolutions.
�� Working with budget holders across the agency to provide financial information to support Scottish Government forecasting and statutory reporting in accordance with relevant accounting guidelines and regulations.
�� Provide support and advice on finance and governance related issues and specific commissions to the Finance Business Partner, other directorates and financial accounting team as required.�
� Provide support to ensure that Transport Scotland applies robust financial controls and procedures, and effectively manages its financial reporting processes.�
�� Assist as required in the preparation and collation of the Transport Scotland Annual Report and Accounts and liaise with external audit.�

Person specification

Essential Criteria

1. The ability to organise and prioritise your own work and be flexible to adapt priorities to meet changing demands.
2. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a proven ability to explain financial information effectively to stakeholders and non-finance professionals.
3. Ability to interrogate financial and management information with a demonstrable use of Excel as a tool for analysis and reporting.
4. The ability to build strong working relationships within finance and across the business to support the understanding of business issues, financial performance and planning.
