The YMCA of Central Texas has an exciting career opportunity for a Dance Specialist to lead the Dance Program at the CHASCO Family YMCA.

The CHASCO Family Y has some exciting opportunities that this position will play a key part of including: an aggressive growth campaign; a plan to increase member involvement and launch new programs, and a need to reach out to underserved communities.

We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organized individual that meets the requirements of this position. Only qualified candidates will be considered.

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Dance Specialist provides hands on and administrative support for the CHASCO Family YMCA. The Specialist will be responsible for the daily operations and instruction of the program and will be responsible for customer relations and recovery. They will recruit staff for additional programming and supervise/train staff to ensure all are preforming their assigned jobs. The Specialist will assist with dance events and registrations, year-round staff scheduling, building curriculum and work on special projects as needed.

Must be available to work various shifts, which may include evenings and weekends. Hours will vary depending on activities.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Speak effectively before groups of members, participants or employees of the Association;
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs;
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Supporting other branch activities as required
Education and Experience:
  • College degree that includes a minimum of 24 hours course work or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years dance teaching experience or assistant teaching (may include high school dance clinics for children, studio experience, dance camp counselor/instructor), including minimum 3 year experience working with children (dance or related area)
  • Minimum 4 years dance technique training in two or more disciplines

Pay Rate: $23.75 to $27.00/hour depending on experience
