Job Description:

, a division of the has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Services Supervisor to join an excellent team working to help people recover from their illness and return to their lives in the community.

Oregon State Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-certified public psychiatric hospital providing services on two campuses to persons committed by the Oregon courts as part of the state mental health system.

This position falls under the classification of Construction and Facility Maintenance Supervisor 1. This is a full-time, permanent, management service position which is not represented by a union.

What you will do

As the Environmental Services Supervisor, you will direct and monitor the work performed by employees assigned to the Environmental Services Department and outside contractors. This position Interprets programs and policies to staff and develops, implements, and evaluates procedures and systems. Ensures that Oregon State Hospital follows all applicable rules, policies, procedures, and it works toward providing viable systems approach to maintenance and trades operations. For example, the development of Preventative Maintenance programs and processes to ensure the hospital is always ready for a survey from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or other agencies like, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS), OR-OSHA, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Licensing, or Sanitation agencies. This position works toward the Mission of Oregon State Hospital.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications (Construction and Facility Maintenance Supervisor 1 Classification):


Two (2) years of lead work, foreman work, or supervision experience
OR six months of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position AND completion of an accredited vocational-training or construction-training program related to the class concept.
OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Desired Attributes:

  • Knowledge of sanitation, cleaning and disinfection methods and practices.

  • Knowledge of custodial training principles, Joint Commission on Accreditation on Healthcare Organizations and Center for Medicare and Medicaid standards.

  • Experience in lead work or supervision in a comprehensive hospital/facility setting.

  • Experience creating, promoting, welcoming, and maintaining a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
