Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly motivated GIS Specialist I for immediate employment in the Conshohocken, PA office. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment in both in-person and virtual (telework) settings. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with a team comprised of a variety of technical staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, renewable energy, and other focus areas.
This person will report to the Conshohocken, PA office and will be part of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting and GIS groups. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of GIS, data management, data analysis, geospatial qualifications, and problem-solving skills to support our clients and project teams. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment, be flexible on schedule to meet project deadlines, have attention to detail, and provide a broad range of mapping skills and quality control (QA/QC) capabilities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Independently executes and delivers GIS projects varying from basic to moderate to significant scopes and complexity
  • Develop databases and various mapping outputs to support reports and other project deliverables
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and
  • presentation purposes
  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
  • Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation, including quality control documentation
  • Work directly with Level I/II/III/IV GIS Specialists and Project Managers
  • Assist ecological field teams with field mapping preparation, field data collection/data extraction and other related activities
  • Work may include extended hours, night work and/or overnight travel.

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education
  • The position may require fieldwork, and the candidate must be able to travel (including overnight)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field
  • Strong communications skills and ability to independently manage workload schedules
  • 1+ years of GIS or other relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal and/or other relevant ArcGIS software and an understanding of the ESRI suite of products
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Technical knowledge of geographic concepts, including coordinate systems, data collection methods, spatial data management, analysis, data visualization and cartographic design
