Recreation Leader

Job Description

Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking individuals familiar with athletic operations that would enjoy working a flexible part time job.

Primary responsibility of Recreation Leader is to provide operational and customer service assistance with youth and adult athletic programs, community center activities, events and field/gym rentals. This includes rule and policy enforcement for, volleyball, football, basketball, soccer along with, adult basketball, volleyball, and softball leagues. 

These programs, events, tournaments, field and gym rentals are scheduled at various recreational centers, fields and other facility locations within the City of Chesapeake..

Recreation Leader will assist with general grounds maintenance, center maintenance and routine custodial duties such as restroom and grounds monitoring, cleaning and trash removal. Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires instruction that is sufficient for satisfactory job performance .

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one month of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment. May require a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with the.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment; effectively communicate with the public; and resolve conflicts during competitive league programs. Must have ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing; ability to use a telephone; read and interpret rules and regulations.
