Position Summary & Responsibilities
This position focuses on the Mental Health Intervention Program (MHIT) and assists school districts and Mental Health Providers (MHPs) by implementing and supporting MHIT program requirements. This position will serve as the coordinator of MHIT program. This position will conduct reviews, training, and provide support for MHIT Schools and MHPs. This position will receive and manages data for the program. This position will be a liaison to Schools, KDHE, KSDE, CMHCs, private mental health providers, and other state agencies. This position will participate with the Children’s Behavioral Health Program Manager reviews and triage complex relationships among school systems, behavioral health systems while balancing the legislative requirements for this program. The position will also be responsible for gathering local, statewide, and consumer feedback on MHIT Program processes including parent engagement, referrals, school and MHP program processes. The coordinator will work with identified schools and MHPs to ensure the most vulnerable students are prioritized in the referral process. Including those in Foster Care, those experiencing homelessness, those involved in the judicial system and those with significant behavioral health, medical, and/or substance abuse issues utilizing a recovery-based and trauma-informed perspective. This position will provide feedback to the MHIT Program Manager, the Children’s Behavioral Health Program manager and Behavioral Health Youth Director on information and data that will inform policy development processes including the newly formed MHIT Coalition Board. The goal is to confirm quality effective and efficient behavioral health services and support for children and their families within the MHIT program.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Assists and consults with school districts and MHPs in the MHIT Program; and provides mentorship and support in person and via internet communications for each school district and their MHPs. Files a monthly progress report including challenges and successes for new districts and their MHPs.
Reviews and summarizes reports submitted by participating school districts and MHPs on forms designed by KDADS.
Reviews and summarizes the annual progress reports filed by the participating school on forms designed by KDADS.
Attends meetings called by KDADS related to MHIT and schedules meetings when needed.
Takes phone calls and emails from participating school districts, KSDE, KDADS, KDHE, MHPs, and other interested parties.
Assists participating school districts in obtaining signed memorandum of understanding for each MHP.
Assists in updating the MHIT Guidance Document and grant application forms.
Oversees the development of the samples documents which will include forms, processes and procedures for schools to use in their programs.
Develops training sessions for schools and MHPs to help them implement a successful program.
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral or social services, human services, education, public administration, or any combination of experience and education equivalent to three years of experience related to human/social services
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite, specifically proficient in Excel and data management
Minimum of 2 years combination of education, training, work experiences, and knowledge of children’s behavioral health systems
Must maintain a valid Driver's License
Ability to travel as needed
