Essence of Position
To provide a pleasant and efficient check out by actively engaging guests, ensuring they receive unparalleled hospitality and professional service. Day Time Courtesy Clerks must be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Shifts and days worked may vary and may include evening and weekends.

Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
- Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, prepared to provide excellent service.
- Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include: asking guests if they need stamps or ice, chatting about Yoke‘s signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on reusable bag rebates).
- Acknowledging and assisting each guest by packing purchases, delivering purchases, checking prices, or answering guests‘ inquiries when necessary.
- Performing routine store maintenance or cleaning when necessary.
- Bagging grocery orders.
- Carrying out grocery orders to customer‘s vehicle using shopping cart.
- Restocking bags and other check stand supplies.
- Retrieving shopping carts left in parking lot and cart corral.
- Returning unsold products to shelf, or properly disposes those that are unsalable.
- Mentoring new associates or associates who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment.
- Understanding and capable of using ‘This One‘s On Us‘ cards to ‘Make Our Guests Crazy About Us‘
- Participating actively in the store‘s accident reduction plan including: monitoring displays for trip hazards or instability, observing safe lifting techniques, and recognizing safety features and/or restrictions of all machinery, store evacuation plan, and robbery policy.
- Associates under 18 years old: Associates under 18 years old may not (nor should they be instructed to) load, operate, feed, set-up, adjust, repair, or clean the following: trash compactors, balers, meat slicers, meat saws, patty forming machines, meat grinders, meat choppers, fryers, ovens, stoves, grills, dishwashers, rounders, sheeters, bread slicer, mixers, or forklifts. Additionally, associates under 18 years old may not (nor should they be instructed to) cleanup chemical or biological spills. Biologicals include but may not be limited to: blood, feces, vomit, or mucus.

Qualifications

- Education and/or Experience
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills
Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times.
- Mathematical Skills
Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.
- Reasoning Ability
Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Other Qualifications
Obtains a Washington State Minor Work authorization if working in Washington State and under 18-years-old.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations
Most positions within Yoke‘s require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing Yoke‘s safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.
