Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the daytoday accounting functions ensuring the accuracy of financial information and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. This role involves complex reconciliations financial analysis and participation in the monthend close process. The Senior Accountant will also help guide junior accounting staff and support the audit process ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Prepare and review monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
    • Perform financial analysis including variance analysis trend analysis and budgettoactual comparisons.
  • MonthEnd and YearEnd Close:

    • Manage and execute the monthend close process including journal entries accruals and reconciliations.
    • Ensure the timely and accurate closing of the general ledger each month.
    • Reconcile complex balance sheet and income statement accounts ensuring proper documentation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:

    • Oversee the posting and review of journal entries including adjustments for revenue expenses and intercompany transactions.
    • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger by performing regular account reconciliations.
  • Fixed Asset Management:

    • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset accounts including depreciation schedules and capital asset tracking.
    • Ensure all fixed assets are properly recorded and accounted for in the financial system.
  • Audit Support:

    • Prepare schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
    • Assist with the annual financial audit tax audit and compliance audits as needed.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:

    • Review and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure all accounting activities are in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Tax Compliance:

    • Assist with the preparation of state and local tax filings including sales and use tax returns.
    • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight:

    • Oversee and support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes ensuring proper coding and reconciliation.
    • Monitor cash flow collections and the aging of receivables.
  • Mentoring and Leadership:

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff ensuring adherence to accounting standards and processes.
    • Assist with the training and development of the accounting team.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor and analyze actual vs. budget performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (required).
    • CPA certification (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • 4 years of accounting experience preferably in a senior or supervisory role.
    • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle NetSuite) and accounting software.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
