Company Overview
A leading, fully integrated provider of customized renewable energy solutions, serving a diverse range of partners across North America. As one of the largest independent power producers in the country, the company manages a substantial portfolio of solar and battery storage projects throughout the U.S. and Canada. With projects at various stages-from development to operation-they are committed to delivering sustainable energy solutions at scale and advancing the transition to a cleaner future.
To further this mission, the company is seeking a highly skilled EPC Attorney to join its legal team and provide expert legal guidance on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) matters.
Position Overview
The EPC Attorney will play a vital role in supporting the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy and battery storage projects. This individual will work closely with the company's commercial, development, and engineering teams to structure and negotiate complex EPC contracts, mitigate legal risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, business-oriented legal professional with extensive experience in construction law and energy project development.
Key Responsibilities:
- EPC Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex EPC contracts, equipment supply agreements, and other related project documents to ensure alignment with business goals. Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to address project-specific needs and risks during contract negotiations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams-such as development, finance, operations, and engineering-to provide legal support throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to commercial operations. Coordinate with external counsel as needed to address specialized legal matters.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Identify legal and operational risks associated with EPC projects, and provide practical guidance to mitigate those risks. Ensure all contracts and project activities comply with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations.
- Project Finance and M&A Support: Provide legal advice on financing arrangements for projects, including debt and equity transactions, in collaboration with the finance team. Support M&A activities by conducting legal due diligence and advising on issues related to project acquisition and integration.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve disputes related to EPC contracts, coordinating with project teams and external counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing.
- 4+ years of experience in construction law, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects, with a focus on drafting and negotiating EPC contracts.
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery storage, or other renewable energy projects is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of energy regulations and project finance principles.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading renewable energy company and play a pivotal role in the growth of the clean energy sector. The EPC Attorney will be at the forefront of groundbreaking projects that contribute to a sustainable future while working with a dynamic, mission-driven team.
If you are a proactive attorney with a passion for renewable energy and expertise in EPC matters, we encourage you to apply.
