Description

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking to fill a Medical Laboratory Assistant position. This position will release ordered test requests, obtain specimens, perform waived testing, and process specimens for transfer to reference lab.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. with rotating Saturday mornings from 8:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Evening hours may be required at a future date.

In this position, you will:

Perform specimen collection and processing.  Perform data entry to release lab orders and results using Cerner and Epic computer systems.  Perform waived testing.  Use clinic recognized customer service and communication method AAA on a consistent basis with patients and staff.  Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services. Need to have: One of the following:Completion of an approved three-month course in clinical laboratory technique.Completion of 10 quarter credits or more of biology or chemistry college courses.Six months or more of experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Nice to have: Experience:Working in a clinical laboratory performing phlebotomy and/or as a medical assistant.Using laboratory information systems and electronic medical records, including Cerner and Epic.Working with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, specimen collection, routine laboratory record keeping, and safety practices. Ability to work effectively with an increasingly diverse clientele. Candidates with fluency in a language(s) in  addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
