Responsibilities



The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering expertise in the safe and compliant design and deployment of unique pressure systems. This position applies engineering knowledge and methods to accomplish mechanical engineering work in support of research and development. The role’s direct collaborative interface with scientific projects creates an opportunity for career growth across a broad range of disciplines.

Support laboratory research staff in the design and installation of pressure systems. Support the development and implementation of the pressure safety program. Analyze research projects and recommend controls or design changes to mitigate hazards. Support ongoing operations and maintenance of systems in the pressure safety program. Develop tools and methods for communication and implementation of pressure safety program requirements. Communicate in an effective and timely manner to stakeholders and engineering team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 3+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

PE Preferred or EIT with the ability to obtain PE within one year. Experience in design analysis for pressure vessel and piping systems. Familiarity with ASME B31.3, Process Piping Code and ASME Pressure Vessel code section VIII. Proven ability to self-direct and manage a range of priorities. Ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to achieve goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work in laboratory, facility maintenance, and construction environments
