JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Weld Line Inspector is to inspect the welded area of the pipe for soundness of metal and to verify dimensional conformance of the welded area to acceptance criteria utilizing various NDE methods.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Interpret results from inspections and communicate findings effectively and appropriately to production personnel.
  • Record the number of record the number of welded ends inspected and specific non-conformances by categories for daily reporting purposes.
  • Accurately read and interpret product drawings to determine acceptance criteria.
  • Accurately use measuring equipment (i.e., dial calipers, micrometers, pit gauges, etc.) and interpret results to determine product acceptance
  • Must be able to stand and work in adverse conditions (outside in all types of weather or inside in a manufacturing environment) for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Use simple measuring instruments (tape measure, caliper, etc.).
  • Must be able to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, and moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Comply with all NOV, company and HSE policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must pass screening exam (math and reading comprehension) with a minimum score of 80%.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be able to pass an Industrial Eye exam with near visual acuity
